Edimax EW-7612PIn Windows 7 Drivers

The most recent drivers for the Edimax EW-7612PIn wireless network card can actually be found on the RealTek website. The Edimax website is not very reliable and the links seem to be broken or to the wrong files. The card uses the RealTek chipset so might as well get the driver direct from RealTek as it will normally be more up to date than the one from Edimax.

Go to http://www.realtek.com and search for:

RTL8192SE

Scroll down to the software link and then it will give you a list of different drivers. Avoid the one at the top as this is for SU. You want the SE one.

  1. I don`t knwow about you but this card have some serious range issue. I bought two of those, one for win xp, second for win 7 and both are unable to see my AP, unless i place them 2m or less to AP. For comparision when my laptop have excelent 5 bar connection and see some other wifi networks this EW-7612PIn does not see anything. I messed aroud with antenas and band but nothing helps.

  2. I have a similar problem. But it only started happening when I installed a new graphics card. I think the card is very susceptible to interference and doesn’t have needed shielding. In the end I bought a USB wireless N key, ran it on an extender cable and took it as far away from my rig as possible. Solved the reception issue.
